The traditional worship method at the Ammathiruvadi Temple in Kerala is based on the ancient custom of offering poojas and performing aartis. Devotees offer their prayers to the deity, light incense sticks, and recite mantras. The main offering to Ammathiruvadi is the offering of mappilappam, a type of steamed cake made from rice flour, ghee, coconut, cardamom, sugar, and jaggery. Devotees then offer flowers, holy water, kumkum, tamboolam (small cloth bundle) and a sacred thread, and stand in a line before the deity. They then take part in the traditional Kettukali dance.
