Worship Method:

The Tepozteco mountain in Morelos, Mexico is a well-known site of worship. Its multi-storied pyramid temple was likely built many centuries ago, likely before the arrival of the Spanish in 1519. The Aztec god of pulque, fertility and rain, Ometochtli, was worshiped at the site. The traditional method of worship at Tepozteco included ceremonies and offerings. Priests would chant and make offerings during these ceremonies, and the offerings included items such as food, jewelry, or incense. Offerings were also made to the surrounding natural elements, including the mountain itself, the cave, the waterfall, and the flora and fauna of the area. Pilgrims would leave offerings and complete specific rituals such as walking a specific path or performing a set of movements to please the gods. Today, the site still attracts many pilgrims, and the tradition of offering and ritual performance continues. Pilgrims can be seen making offerings of incense, coins, flowers, small statues, and other items. They can also be seen performing rituals such as sprinkling flower petals in certain areas, walking around the temple, or extinguishing candles in certain places. Visitors also pay homage to Tepozteco by writing prayers and words of thanks on pieces of cloth which are then planted near the sacred site. This most visited temple in Mexico
