The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria was founded in 1734, making it the oldest surviving structure in the city of Ponce. In 1835, the church was remodeled and its baroque style was added to its exterior. Since then, Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria has become a revered part of Ponce’s rich cultural history.
