The Church was founded in 1972 in response to the rapid population growth in the area. Construction of the Church of Our Lady of Purification began in 1975, and it was completed in 1977. It is said that the Virgin Mary made an apparition in the area in the form of a rainbow in 1965, symbolizing the start of their spiritual journey. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Mexico.
