Worship Method:
The worship method of Grishneshwar Temple is mainly based on a Vedic Puja system, which includes the traditional five-fold puja of Kaala Pooja, Abhishekam, Arati, Bali Pooja, and Ashta Deepa Arati. All these poojas are performed three times daily, at dawn, noon and evening. The traditional puja system starts with Kaala Pooja - a prayer to Lord Shiva or the presiding deity of the temple. Then, the priest performs abhishekam. In this ceremony, small amounts of water, ghee, and honey are poured on the deity. This puja is believed to bless the devotee with long life, spiritual wisdom and good health. The Arati is also a significant part of the temple's worship. This involves taking a lamp, known as ‘Akhand Jyoti’ and chanting prayers, keeping the temple lit. This lamp is then offered at the feet of Lord Shiva. Finally, the Bali Puja involves offering fruits, flowers, and other libations to the Lord. This Puja is performed to appease the deities and ensure a good harvest in the region. Ashta Deepa Arati is the last puja of the day and is performed with eight lamps. This puja is believed to both drive away all evils and bring peace and prosperity. Apart from this traditional Vedic Puja system, devotees also offer prayers and perform special rituals on special occasions like Mahashivaratri, Navratri, etc. These traditional poojas are performed everyday to pay homage to Lord Shiva and seek his blessings for a long and happy life.
