The building was first constructed in 1030 AD, and then rebuilt in the late 17th century. The basilica underwent renovation in the 1940s, and is now a major tourist attraction in the country. History:

The church was initially built in 1030 AD and dedicated to Saint Willibrord. It stood intact for centuries, until it was destroyed in 1794 during the French Revolutionary Wars. The building was then reconstructed in 1797. In 1843, a large tower and porch were added to the structure. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Luxembourg.
