The Vilnius St. John Bosco Catholic Church has long been an iconic part of the city's religious landscape. Following the 18th century partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Vilnius became part of the Russian Empire. Although the external appearance of the church changed many times due to remodelling and restorations, its inner sanctity was kept intact. In 1961, the church was declared a city historical monument. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Lithuania.
