History:
This stunning Catholic church is located in the city of Kaunas in the Republic of Lithuania. It was built between the years 1620 and 1630, in a late-Gothic style. At the start of the 18th century, the church was transformed into a three-aisled Baroque-style hall church. The legendary painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was created around 1740 by the workshop of Johann Christoph Handke. The painting has been conserved in the church and continues to be its main ornament till this day.
