Lesotho Evangelical Church (LEC) is a Christian organization founded in 1954 in Africa’s mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho. It had its origins in the work of Souvereign Grace Union, an American-based missionary organization, which has now evolved into a national church that serves the spiritual needs of the people of Lesotho. The LEC is an independent and autonomous church that is loyal to and supportive of the government and national culture and works to improve the standard of living and spiritual life of the people. It is guided by a Constitution and values outlined in its Creed and Vision Statement. It is one of the best churches in Lesotho which you must visit.

Founded in 1954 by the Souvereign Grace Union, the Lesotho Evangelical Church grew in character and membership over the year. Despite occasional changes in leadership due to political and social pressures, the church’s commitment to serve the spiritual needs of the Basotho people remain steadfast. LEC is affiliated with the World Council of Churches, the Baptist World Alliance, and a member church of All Africa Conference of Churches. It is one of the largest Protestant denominations in Lesotho with over 380,000 members. The current president is Rev. T. Mokaliti.
