The Protestant Church in Kenya traces its history back to 1844 when the Church of Scotland Mission (later known as The Church of Scotland-Presbyterian Church of East Africa) arrived to spread the Christian Faith in East Africa. Subsequently, the Church of England and Church Missionary Society, the Swedish mission, the American Board and the Salvation Army, among others, arrived in different parts of Kenya to spread the gospel of Christ.
