The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) was founded in 1948 and has been in continuous development ever since. It is a voluntary association of Christian churches and organizations that is actively engaged in the peace and justice initiatives of the nation. The Council works closely with government and other civil society organizations for a just and equitable society in which all persons, especially the vulnerable and marginalized, can freely exercise their God-given rights and responsibilities in witness to the reconciling love of God.
The National Council of Churches of Kenya has the mission to nurture, defend and propagate the Christian faith in its fullness as revealed in the Holy Scriptures and professed by the member churches.
In terms of its services, NCCK seeks to address the concerns of its members by engaging in dialogue, providing advocacy, networking and promoting justice and peace. The Council is currently involved in various projects which are aimed at promoting reconciliation, human rights and justice in the society. It also remains vigilant in defending members against any form of injustice and provides them with legal representation in some cases. NCCK also provides humanitarian assistance to persons affected by social crises and undertakes economic empowerment initiatives.
