History:
The Apostolic Church of Jamaica Bethel Temple was founded in 1820 by a group of Wesleyan Methodist converts from the Caribbean island of Barbados. The church’s founder, Thomas Risley, established its denomination as the Apostolic Church of Barbados. In 1829, the church membership relocated to Kingston and began to operate as the Bethel Temple Church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jamaica.
