The church experienced rapid growth and by the mid-1900s it had over 200 congregations in Jamaica. It is now the largest Pentecostal denomination in the country with an estimated 500 congregations. History:

The Church of God in Jamaica was founded by Rev. Thomas D. Brodie who was a missionary from the United States. He was sent to Jamaica in 1895 by the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. Brodie believed that Jamaica was the place where religious revival was needed most, due to the poverty, crime and social unrest in the country. After establishing the mission work in Jamaica, Brodie soon gained many new church members and opened new congregations. The church grew rapidly in the following years and is now the dominant Pentecostal denomination in the country. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jamaica.
