It is the seat of the Bishop of Meath and Kildare and home to the parish of Trim. It is said to be the largest Norman church in Ireland and is one of the earliest and most significant of Ireland’s cathedral churches. It is one of the best churches in Ireland which you must visit.

History:

The Cathedral was built in the 12th century under the rule of King John. It was erected on the remains of an earlier structure which likely dated to the 10th Century. It was commonly used as the coronation site for the Irish High King during the Middle Ages. It was re-dedicated as an Anglican Cathedral during the Anglican Reformation in the 17th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.
