: Al-Shahid Mosque (also referred to as Al-Hussein Mosque or Imam-Hussein Mosque) is one of the most important Islamic places of worship in Karbala, Iraq. It was built at the site where the third Shia Imam (Hussein ibn Ali) was killed and buried in the 608 A.H. / 1268 A.D. battle of Karbala.
