The Al-Khilani Mosque is an important Islamic religious structure located in Baghdad, Iraq. Built in the 16th century during the Ottoman Empire, the mosque was originally built as a madrasa (Islamic school). The mosque features a large rectangular building with a central courtyard surrounded by four iwans (large, rectangular indoor spaces with an open floor plan) and a prominent dome. The main entrance of the mosque is located at the northeastern corner of the courtyard. From there, visitors enter into the large hall which serves as the main prayer hall. On each side of the hall, there are several side chambers for studying, housing, and storage. The main dome of the mosque is located at the center of the mosque and is visible from the outside. It is supported by four pillars and faced with intricate mosaic patterns. The minaret, which is located at the northeastern corner of the courtyard, is a tall tower and constructed in a traditional style. Overall, the mosque represents the Islamic architecture of the Ottoman period. The mosque is a popular tourist attraction and still serves as an important place of worship for the local community.
