Brief History:
: The Jameh Mosque of Semnan is a two stories mosque located in the center of the historical city of Semnan, Iran. It was built during the Seljuk dynasty in the 12th century and is considered one of the oldest and most important mosques in the region. The mosque is an important example of traditional Persian architecture and is well known for its colorful tiled walls and complex structure. The mosque underwent several renovations throughout its history and is still an active place of worship today. It is one of the most famous mosque in Iran which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Jameh Mosque of Semnan in Iran is a monument of immense historical and religious significance in the city. Constructed around the 10th century, this beautiful and historical mosque displays a brilliant example of Bakhtiyari-style architecture. The mosque has two towering iwans, a tiled dome, and open-air courtyards on both sides. The two iwans are decorated with beautifully carved plaster stucco, which date back to the 10th and 12th centuries. Some of the stucco designs depict stories from the Islamic scriptures and historical events. The tiled dome is an exceptional example of the intricate Iranian tile work. The courtyard is surrounded by cut stones and a pool with nightingale sculptures. The mosque is surrounded by an expansive garden full of fruit trees and for a peaceful stroll. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
