Gabungan Gereja Baptis Indonesia - Union of Indonesian Baptist Churches (GKII) was founded in 1926 as the first union of Indonesian Baptist churches to promote gospel ministry uniting the churches across Indonesia, in order to foster Christian faith and practice, oversight, and widespread mission efforts. Its founding members were Chinese, Dutch, and Indonesian. Since the post-colonial period, GKII has grown to become one of the largest denominations in Indonesia and is a member of the Baptist World Alliance. The current membership of GKII consists of more than 1,650 local churches and affiliates, with an estimated 2.5 million baptised believers and a constituency of more than 8 million. GKII provides evangelical services including church planting, gospel and peace mission, training of church workers, production and distribution of literature,Sunday school and Bible study program, disaster relief and advocacy, support for ministries like children’s, youth, and senior citizens’ ministry. Additionally, GKII coordinates and facilitates the Ministerial Leadership Institute program for Baptist pastors, leaders, and evangelists. Furthermore, GKII is a founding and active member of the Jakarta-based religious leaders’ forum and the National Council of Churches in Indonesia.
