The Al-Ghuraba Mosque is the largest mosque in Surabaya, Indonesia and was built in 1992. It sits on an 86,000 square meter plot of land and is designed in the traditional Indonesian style of architecture, which combines elements of Hindu-Javanese, Islamic, and Chinese influences. The mosque is made up of two large domes, representing the heavens, while the smaller dome at the entrance is a representation of the earth. The main dome is 26 meters in height. The interior is adorned with intricate patterns and ornamental carvings in the style of Javanese-Hindu architecture. The main prayer hall inside the mosque can accommodate up to 4,000 worshippers. The halls are connected to each other with a set of wide stairs, which are also decorated with intricate paintings. The center of the mosque has a courtyard which contains a mihrab (a niche indicating the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca). The exterior of the mosque is decorated with stucco in a traditional floral pattern, while the minarets feature traditional ornamental carvings. The entrance to the mosque is also decorated with artworks and calligraphy, with an abundance of unique details. The final touch of the mosque is the 3-dimensional Quranic verses adorning its walls, ceilings, and domes. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:
