Agung Mosque is a mosque located in Palembang, capital of South Sumatra, Indonesia. The mosque is one of the largest and most important mosques in South Sumatra. It was built in the early 19th century and completed in 1819. The original mosque was built in 1677 by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I, and a few years later the current mosque was built to replace it. The current mosque was designed by Ma'mun Al-Rasyid and built with the financial support of the local business community, as well as some royal support from the sultan. The mosque is located in the center of Palembang, overlooking the Musi River. It is the largest mosque in South Sumatra and has been designated as one of the iconic buildings of Palembang. The mosque is a unique blend of local and Islamic architectural styles, as it uses Balinese decorative motifs on the interior walls, mihrab, and pillars.
