The Tomb of Razia Begum in Mohalla Bulbuli Khana is a medieval-era mausoleum located in the Bulbuli Khana area of Delhi, India. It is located near the Jamuna river and dates back to the late 14th century, when the first female ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, Razia Begum, lived. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Tomb of Razia Begum in Mohalla Bulbuli Khana is an impressive structure consisting of a large octagonal main chamber and four corner chambers with domes. The tomb is built of brick and mortar, with a thick layer of yellow sandstone veneer a few feet thick. The corners of the tomb are also decorated with two inverted lotus designs. The Tomb of Razia Begum in Mohalla Bulbuli Khana was built in 1320 by Malik Adil, the then governor of Delhi, in honour of the departed queen. Although the tomb is associated with Razia Begum, it is believed to have been constructed for Prince Baqir Shah, the son of Razia Begum.
