Overview:
mple of Somnath is a 12th-century temple located in the Prabhas Patan region of Gujarat, India. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu deity Somanatha and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, or sacred Hindu temples. It is believed that the original structure of the temple was destroyed by Muslim invaders in 1026. Since then its ruins have been managed by a succession of Hindu rulers and their allies, until it was completely rebuilt by the Indian government in 1951. The ruins of other temples in the region are also known as Siddhagiri, which are believed to be the remains of ancient temples destroyed by the Muslim rulers of the area. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
