Overview:
Tarapur Gate is an ancient gate which was built in the 17th century during the Maratha rule in India. It is located in the town of Tarapur, close to Nashik in Maharashtra. The gate has a unique architecture, with four entrances and four towers at the four corners. It is considered to be a significant historical building, as it is the only surviving part of the fort which once existed in Tarapur. History:
The most prominent feature of Tarapur Gate is its four entrances and four towers. The structure is made out of black stone and has elements of Hindu, Persian and Islamic architecture. The gate stands between two major highways, G.T. Road and Sinnar Naka Road. At the center of the gate, there is a terrace, which was used for coronation ceremonies. The roof of the gate has a unique design and is made of red stone. The main entrance of the gate is divided into two gates - the main entrance gate and a smaller gate, which served as an entry point for troops and horses.
