Overview:
Siva Temple Old Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Kanchipuram, a town in Tamil Nadu, India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the form of Hindu trinity. According to Hindu mythology, this temple was built by Raja Raja Chola, one of the most powerful kings of south India. It is one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites in south India and one of the 108 Divya Desams (Holy Abodes). This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple has three main towers, the Rajagopuram (main temple tower), and two Gopurams (entry towers). The temple features an inner sanctum and a separate shrine for Lord Muruga (Lord Karthikeya). It has beautiful sculptures made of stone and metal plated figures of some gods. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

This temple is said to have been founded by King Raja Raja Chola in the early 11th century AD. The exact origin of this temple is unclear, but legends say that it was a small Shiva temple before its emergence in the 11th century. The present temple structure was built in the 11th century and has seen several renovations since.
