Siva temple complex, Pallimanna Overview The Siva temple complex in Pallimanna is an ancient shrine, located in the Kinara-Mundayoor district of Ernakulam. The temple stands as one of the oldest and most important temples in the region, and is believed to have been built sometime in the 15th century. The temple complex consists of a main Siva temple and four sub temples, dedicated to various local gods. Prominent Features The main shrine consists of a Nilaketti or shrine for the main deity, along with large red laterite pillars which stand at the entrance. In addition to this, the complex also contains small temples of Shasta Nathayath, Pataala Bhagvathy, Balasubramanya, and Veerabadran. History The temple complex is believed to have been built by the first Raja of Cochin, Unni Palaya, in the 15th century. It is the oldest temple in the area and is known for its unique architecture and stunning carvings. The temple is also known for its wood carvings and stone idols. Interesting Facts The Pallimanna temple complex is one of the few temples in Kerala that still uses a traditional form of worship, known as 'Kanyadaanam'.
