Overview:
Mahal,Patiala is a magnificent monument, located in Punjab, India. It was built in 1805 as a part of Maharaja Mohinder Singh’s palace and was the residence of the Maharaja. The palace is built with red and yellow sandstone brick and it is embellished with intricate glass-work and mirror work, giving it the name ‘Sheesh Mahal’, which literally translates to ‘Palace of Glass’. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The entrance of the Sheesh Mahal is a spectacular sight with its intricately carved 24 doors. The palace walls have intricate and beautiful mirror-work, glass columns, and golden and colored glass ornaments. The ceilings also have glass work and exquisite paintings.
