Overview:
The Ram Temple, also known as Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir or Ram Janmabhoomi, is a Hindu temple in the Indian city of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. It is dedicated to the god Rama, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, and is believed to be the birthplace of Rama. The temple complex is the holiest of Hindu pilgrimage sites and a major attraction for Hindu devotees from India and around the world. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple features a central architectural style with a large central square surrounded by four gates and walls adorned with sculptures of Ram, his wife Sita and their siblings. The temple also includes shrines dedicated to various gods and goddesses, including Lakshmana, Hanuman, Shiva, and Durga. - This temple is believed to be the actual site of Rama's birth, and it is said that the first temple was built here over 5000 years ago. - The original structure of the temple was destroyed by the Mughal emperor Babur in 1528 and the site became a political and religious flashpoint between Hindus and Muslims from the late 19th century onwards. - The temple is part of a larger complex which includes a 'vanamahal' or forest area; a museum; an Islamic mazaar; and an archaeological site. - The temple is surrounded by a 4.2 metre high wall which encloses an area of 12.2 hectares, and has a 5.2 metre high gate which is decorated with gold and silver plates. - The temple was inaugurated in August 2020, amid much fanfare, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Visit one of the famous monuments of India with your friends and family.
