The Prehistoric Burial Site,Thekkattur is a Neolithic megasite located in Palakkad district, Kerala, India. It is part of the prehistoric sites of Elavangaram South, and is believed to be the remains of a Neolithic burial complex. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Prehistoric Burial Site,Thekkattur consists of terracotta and quartzite artifacts, including jewelry and pottery. There are also several circular and trapezoidal stone structures and cairns, believed to have been used for ritual practices. Some of the structures have a bull-skull carved on them, suggesting the worship of proto-Shiva. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

The Thekkattur site was first discovered by PR Rajendran, R Pavithran and SS Nepolean in 2008. It was later excavated by archeologists from the Kerala Council for Historical Research and the National Institute of Advanced Studies. The findings of the excavation suggests that the site was active between 1500 BC and 1000 BC.
