Old Baoli immediately to the west of Hindu Rao’s House. In India: History,Facts, & Services
,Old Baoli is an old historical stepwell located in Delhi, India. It is located approximately 500 metres to the west of Hindu Rao's House, and is an archaeological note of the Mughal era. The baoli was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in the mid-17th century and was once surrounded with lush gardens. It has survived for centuries, but time has chipped away at the beauty of this historical wonder. The steps of the baoli have been worn away by time, but it is still a sight to behold.
The water from this baoli was used by the residents of Hindu Rao’s house to quench their thirst during the long hot summers. The baoli was also used to draw water during the month of May when the Yamuna river overflowed. The baoli is now privatised and access is restricted, but it still stands in full glory and can be seen from the bus station near Hindu Rao's House.
