Barkona Deul Mound is an archaeological site located near the ancient Pachmari ruins in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is believed to date back to the period of the Mauryan Empire (322-185 BCE) and is an important site in terms of archaeological research. The site consists of a large earthen mound with a few stones and other artifacts from the era. The mound is believed to be the remains of an ancient fortress and is one of the few sites where the remains of a Mauryan wooden fortification can still be seen. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent features of the Barkona Deul Mound are its intricate fortifications, which are believed to date back to the Mauryan era. The walls of the fortification are made of large stone blocks, which are fitted tightly together and are stabilized by mortar.
