History:
The cists and cairns at the Padur Megalithic site consist of two distinct types: the rectangular cairns and the circular cists. Both types feature circular or oval-shaped chambers, constructed using large stones and with a granite slab cap. The rectangular cairns measure up to 12 meters in length, while the cists are generally around 4 meters in diameter. Inside these chambers, human and animal remains are often found, along with pottery shards, quartzite and iron implements, suggesting a long and complex history of use.
