Overview:
The temple is surrounded by green hills and mesmerizing landscapes. The temple attracts many tourists from different parts of the country. The temple has two main shrines; one devoted to Lord Vishnu and the other to Goddess Lakshmi. The architecture of the temple is a fine example of the ancient Chola style of architecture. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main feature of the temple is the underground sanctum and the presence of the image of the Goddess at the entrance gate. A huge conical hill stands opposite the temple, and the spring at the top of the hill is considered to be sacred. The temple is also famous for its unique sculpture of Lord Vishnu, who is depicted dragging the massive Madhu Kaitabha away from the entrance. The Malavali Devi Temple is considered to be one of the 108 Divya Desam temples, which are scattered all over India. According to legend, goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu, made her appearance at the temple in order to protect the devotees from negative forces.
