Lakhar wal Gumbad (Tomb) In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Lakhar wal Gumbad is a fourteenth-century octagonal tomb located in the city of Multan, in Punjab province of Pakistan. The tomb, which is said to have been built by a local ruler, is inscribed with calligraphic verses from the Quran and carved marble decorations. The tomb is assumed to be originally a mausoleum of the paramour of a local King and has a unique architectural style. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most notable feature of this tomb is its distinct decorative features which include painted tiles, intricate marble carvings and calligraphic verses from the Quran. The exterior of the tomb has eight towers, each with a crescent built on a square base. The interior of the tomb has a central chamber surrounded by eight bays and a low conical dome. The domed hall of the tomb is in the octagonal shape and is constructed of bricks reinforced with wood. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
