arayana Temple is a beautiful Hindu temple located in the village of Kirtinagar, Bihar, India. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is worshiped as Kirtinarayana. It is believed to be one of the oldest temples in the region, having been built in the 11th century. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is built in the Nagara style of architecture and has two shikhara towers which are the main attraction. The walls of the temple are adorned with intricate stone carvings depicting scenes from the great epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata. A wall inside the temple is also adorned with a mural depicting Lord Vishnu in various avatars and a few other important Hindu gods and goddesses. The temple has a unique system for determining purity by washing in its holy water tank. If anything is clean after coming out of the water tank then it is said to be pure. The temple also has a unique chakra which is a large disc made of gold that is mentioned in Hindu mythology.
