Jata Shankar Fort is located near the Mhalsapati village in India in the state of Maharashtra. It is located about 4 km from the town of Nanded. The fort was built by the Maratha rulers of the 18th century and is said to be one of the oldest forts in the State. It is one of the few forts that has its origin in the medieval period. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Jata Shankar Fort stands majestically atop a hill and offers magnificent views of the surroundings. It is surrounded by dense forests, making it popular among those who love trekking. The fort complex has several gates, walls, and structures. There are also a temple and an artificial pond. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
Interesting facts:
The fort's name, Jata Shankar, is derived from the Hindu God, Shiva. Shiva is known as the Lord of Jata (hair), and so the fort was named after him. The temple within the fort complex is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is also an ancient idol which is believed to be that of Lord Shiva.
