Overview:
Rohunta remains is an archaeological site located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It was discovered in 1991 by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The site is situated on a hill top and is located in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the Gurgi Rohunta remains is the Ruined stupa. The structure is believed to date back to the Mauryan period (approximately 300 BC). It is believed that the stupa was built by Alexander the Great’s Macedonian troops. The hilltop also features the ruined palace of ancient Gurjara-Pratihara kings.
