Gollingeswara group of temples In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Gollingeswara group of temples are located on the banks of the River Tungabhadra in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. These temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and are believed to have been built in the late 11th century, during the reigns of the Eastern Chalukya, Iruga and Vijayanagara empires. The main temple is dedicated to Shiva and Parvati, while the other two are dedicated to Ganesha and Brahma respectively. The complex also contains a shrine of a local saint called Golkonda Raghavendra Swamy. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Gollingeswara Temple complex comprises three main temples dedicated to Shiva, Ganesha and Brahma. The main temple contains the idols of Shiva and Parvati. The other two temples have statues of Ganesha and Brahma. The temples are built of red sandstone and are intricately carved with beautiful designs.
