Fateh Burj Overview Fateh Burj is a historic tower located at the Sublime Chahar Bagh Complex near the city of Ludhiana in the Indian state of Punjab. The tower was built in 1710 to commemorate the victory of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, in the Battle of Muktsar. Fateh Burj is considered to be the tallest victory tower in the world, standing at a height of 238 feet (72.5 meters). The Fateh Burj complex is now a popular tourist attraction, and it has become a symbol of Sikh pride. Prominent Features Fateh Burj is a seven-storey tower made with black and white marble and decorated with intricate carvings. The tower has a circumferential circumference of about 50 square meters, and each of its floors is decorated with colorful paintings. The top of the tower is decorated with Golden pinnacle, inspired by the six-pointed Star of David. History Fateh Burj was commissioned by the son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Prince Kharak Singh, who had a great reverence for Guru Gobind Singh. The garden complex also includes a memorial to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and 12 Rupees coin along with a pantheon of martyrs who fought in theBattle of Muktsar. Interesting Facts • Fateh Burj is sometimes referred to as 'Lala Lajpat Rai Tower', named after Lala Lajpat Rai, an Indian freedom fighter and proponent of the Ghadar Movement. • The ornate tower exhibits the architectural style of the Sikh Empire and its intricate marble carvings are an example of the Indo-Persian style. • Fateh Burj houses a museum, where artifacts from the era are available on display.
