Farhat Baksh Kothi In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Farhat Baksh Kothi is a grand sandstone mansion, located close to the Cholistan desert, in Bahawalpur’s principal Hazuri Bagh. It was named after its founder, Farhat Baksh, a local tribal chief who took part in the court of the Maharaja of Bahawalpur. This noble man built the Kothi in the 18th century and it was later renovated by the Nawab of Bahawalpur. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main structure of the Farhat Baksh Kothi is made of sandstone and red brick, which is elaborately decorated with beautiful geometric patterns, inlaid designs and fresco paintings found in Mughal and Rajput royal halls. The elegant arches, serpentine steps and marble flooring also add to the grandeur of the palace. The grandeur and opulence continues outside as well, with a spacious courtyard and its surrounding gardens. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

In the year 1806, Farhat Baksh Khokhar, a local tribal chief and a loyal courtier of the Maharaja of the Bahawalpur state, established the Farhat Baksh Kothi for himself and his family. It is believed that the architectural style of decor was derived from the Persian and Indian architecture. To add to its beauty and grandeur, the Nawab of Bahawalpur, Bahawal Khan V, renovated it in the later stages of the 19thcentury.
