Overview:
Bateshwar Nath Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Bateshwar, Bagpat district in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is believed that this temple was built in Indo-Aryan Gupta period (300-600 CE) though no clear record of its foundation is available. The temple complex is spread across more than 100 acres and is surrounded by more than 500 temples and shrines. It houses the world’s biggest cow sanctuary, where more than 800 cows are kept for protection and care. Bateshwar Nath Temple This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Bateshwar Nath Temple is a majestic structure made of sandstone. It is positioned close to the confluence of Sasta and Jhilal rivers. The temple complex is surrounded by rows of smaller temples and shrines for various Hindu deities. It has a large shikhara (temple tower) which rises up to a height of 50 feet.
