Banasar Tank In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Banasar Tank is an ancient stepwell, located in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, India. It is built in the same style as the nearby Chand Baori stepwell. This stepwell has a depth of approximately 10 meters at the bottom and approximately 110 steps. At the base, it is 80 x 80 feet wide with four grand entrances on the four sides. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Banasar Tank is known for its unique architecture. It’s a multi-level structure built in a two-storied style. The steps on the upper level provide an easy access to the lower level while the lower one can be reached by descending the 110 steps. The tank is also adorned with intricate stone carvings and portrays colours, designs and motifs of Rajasthan. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
Interesting facts:
This tank has been included in the list of “India’s Monument of National Significance”, as it’s been declared a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India.
