Overview:
hat Fort is located in a small village of Balabehat, near the Koyna Dam, in Maharashtra's Satara district. This historic fort stands tall at an altitude of 3654 feet and played a major role in the Maratha Empire. It has a very interesting history of Marathas, Peshwas, and British, who chose it as the site to construct the Raj Bhavan. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The fort is built in a unique and distinct style. It consists of several open courtyards and halls, some of which have elaborately carved staircases. It also has a number of Shiva temples and shrines dedicated to several Maratha rulers. The fort has a water tank, which is fed by a spring.
