The Athakamba Temple is an important Hindu temple located in Trichur district in the southern state of Kerala, India. It is considered to be one of the holiest temples in the country and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is known for its calm, peaceful atmosphere and the gargantuan structure. The complex is composed of a huge Ganapati Mantap, a Shivalingam, an elaborately designed Ambal Sannidhi and a Nandi mandapam in its sprawling courtyard. 1. The temple is said to have been built in a single day by Lord Shiva himself using his trident in order to prove his power to King Rajasekhara Pandya. 2.
