Arab Sarai In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Arab Sarai is an ancient Islamic monument located in the city of Delhi, India. It was built by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq (1351-1388) of the Tughlaq Dynasty and is one of the finest examples of the Tughlaq architectural style. The building is located in the northern part of Delhi and is approximately 20 metres in height and 72.5 metres in length. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most striking feature of Arab Sarai is the large central dome which is impressive in size and grandeur. The dome is surrounded by a number of smaller ones and the whole structure is encircled by crenellated turrets. Other prominent features include a small mosque located at the entrance of the building, a large entrance gate, a grand archway leading to the main chamber, and a courtyard.
