Overview:
Akbar's Chhatri is a majestic monument situated in the city of Ajmer, Rajasthan. It is an archaeological site which holds immense historic importance and values. It was built by Mughal emperor Akbar in 1570 AD to commemorate the death of his courtier and relative- Raja Man Singh; a Hindu noble in the Mughal court. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The structure of the monument is decorated with intricate carvings and stonework, which reflects its fine craftsmanship. The entrance to the monument is guarded by four over-life-sized marble elephants. Entering from the Northern gate, one can find a courtyard with a garden in the centre. The center of the courtyard has an open pavilion which is known as the Chhatri. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
