It was established as a Methodist Protestant church that is non-denominational and free from creed. This church is an active member of the Los Angeles County Churches of the Ozarks and serves a congregation of approximately 1,500 people. History:

The Christian Mission Gospel Tabernacle began as a small storefront church between 8th and 9th Streets in Downtown Los Angeles in 1912. A tent was placed on the church property, followed by a tabernacle in 1915. A new brick building was built in 1917 to house the growing membership of the church, currently at 1,500 members. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Guyana.
