AOG Church stands for Apostolic of God Church and it is a Christian denomination within the Pentecostal movement and the heir of the famed Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. It began in 1906 when members of the Holiness Movement started to experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It remains committed to the traditional Pentecostal doctrine and praxis maintaining emphasis on the apostolic and existence of denominations of the apostolic authority of the apostles. History:

The first AOG Church was founded by the Rev. Frank H. Ewart and the late Dr. William Howard Durham in April 1906. Ewart and Durham were members of the Holiness movement Pentecostal congregation in Oak Park, Illinois. After experiencing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and certain Bible truths, a group of people felt the necessity of forming an organization dedicated to the completion of the great commission as found in Matthew 28:19: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Durham and Ewart developed the idea of a spiritual but independent unity among Pentecostal churches and held conventions to unite Pentecostal believers throughout the world. This concept is still followed today. Today, AOG Church is a global organization with churches in over 100 countries and 10 million members. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Guyana.
