The Philadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church has its roots in the church works of Robert S. Ruliffson. He was a pastor from Baltimore in Maryland who, in 1845, was sent to Philadelphia by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to organized a local church and preach the message of the last-day Adventist movement. In 1888, the church was officially organized and accepted as a part of the world-wide Seventh-day Adventist Church.
