Olivet Seventh Day Adventist Church In Guyana: History,Facts, & Services
Olivet Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Christian denomination founded in 1852 by the followers of William Miller, a Baptist preacher who believed that Jesus would return to earth on October 22, 1844. As this date passed with no sign of Jesus’s second coming, Miller and his followers developed an interpretation of scripture that adjusted the date. Since then, the church has grown to include over 18 million members across the world and commands a presence in 205 countries and territories. Olivet Church is devoted to following the Seventh-Day Adventist faith principles, which are based on the Bible as the only source of God’s truth. These principles include studying the Bible regularly and taking part in prayer, praise and worship in order to make Jesus the rule of life, worshipping on the seventh day (Saturday) of the week and valuing health, spiritual growth, and service to others. The Church’s main purpose is to spread the gospel around the world, through outreach programs, mission trips and evangelism, as well as providing worship services, Bible-based teaching, and youth and church-sponsored social activities.
