Sri Bodhi Viharaya is a Theravadan Buddhist monastery located in Italy. It follows the Theravada tradition, which is a major school of Buddhism. To practice Buddhism at this monastery, the monks generally follow a specific daily routine which consists of chanting, meditation, and teaching from the scriptures. Chanting usually begins soon after the sun rises and consists of chanting of mantras, Pali sutras and mandalas. After chanting, meditation can be done for a period of time before lunch and then again in the afternoon after teaching sessions. As part of their practice, the monks are encouraged to engage in mindfulness practices such as keeping good health, abstaining from intoxicants, and participating in acts of charity.
